Description
These are externally carried dispensers used to deliver fuel-air-explosive or smoke (SUU-49A/B only) bombs. The SUU-49A/B is released from high-speed and jet aircraft or from helicopters and low-speed fixed-wing aircraft. The SUU-49/B is released from helicopters and low speed fixed wing aircraft only.
The dispensers are painted white or olive drab with designation and loading data stenciled on the side. A 76mm (3.00 inch) yellow band fuel-air-explosive or a 76mm (3.00 inch) yellow and a 76mm (3.00 inch) green band (smoke) indicates filler content.
