Description
This is a percussion-primed cartridge incorporating a high-explosive-incendiary with tracer (HEIT) projectile. The projectile contains the centrifugally armed, impact-fired, point-detonating (PD) model A-23 fuze. The cartridge is used in aircraft cannon.
The projectile body is black-oxide coated with a green band painted ahead of the rotating band. The tip of the fuze is lacquered red. The remainder of the fuze and the cartridge case are unpainted. The fuze has its nomenclature and manufacturing information stamped in the body. Manufacturing information is stamped in the base of the cartridge case.
