Description

The test and dummy projectiles are externally similar to the M712 tactical projectile. This is a high-explosive antitank (HEAT) cannon-launched guided projectile (CLGP). The projectile is self-contained, having a laser seeker homing system and integral fuzing. The projectile is setback-armed and impact-fired with a graze-sensitive piezoelectric crystal (Lucky) firing system.

The guidance, warhead, and control sections may be painted in various colors and patterns, depending upon the test assignment. Projectiles with a high-explosive or spotting charge warhead will have yellow markings and/or a yellow band.
