This is a simple switch consisting of a tubular piece and a spring holding a contact rod away from a nose piece where it would complete the circuit. One circuit lead is connected to the contact rod; the other, to the spring. The spring’s forward end rests against a copper-plated aluminum nose piece. A plastic tube insulates this piece from the contact rod. The contact rod is bolted to the plastic base. On impact, the tube is crushed, forcing the nose piece against the contact rod, completing the circuit.
