Description
The Type 59 is a Chinese-produced wooden box mine. This mine is similar to the former Soviet-produced PMD-6 wooden box antipersonnel mine, except the entire fuze is contained in the box. The mine functions when a downward pressure on the raised lid of the box forces the lid down and a notch inside the lid pulls the release pin from the fuze.
The mine does not have a fuze well or power source.
