Description

This is an antiaircraft fragmentation (frag) bomb cluster dropped by high flying aircraft into lower flying aircraft formations. It uses an aerial-burst, clockwork time fuze to dispense and arm the fragmentation bomb payload.

The body has a welded seam that runs its entire length, and is fitted with three lugs, two welded on one side of the body and the third welded on the opposite side near the center of gravity. The nose cover is press fitted to the body; the tail section is welded to the body.

The cluster is unpainted or painted olive drab. One blue and one white band are painted around the forward end. Identification markings are stenciled in black.
