Burster AN-M20 is essentially a cylindrical paper body filled with 242 grams of tetryl. One end of the body is closed by a metal or plastic plug; the other end, by a plug assembly which consists of a thin walled metal cup containing a small tetryl priming charge and a round metal cup holder. The end of the cup holder is hexagonal and forms a shoulder by which the burster is held in position in a bomb. Burster AN-M20 is used in smoke bomb AN-M47A3 and AN-M47A4 when the bomb is filled with PWP.
