Description
Gray overall with a green nose band and green tail struts. There are two thin red lines 180° apart along the length of the bomb. New type color markings will be found.
The body is constructed of 1 piece of machined forged steel. It is threaded in the nose to receive a fuze. The after end of the body is threaded internally to accommodate a male base plate. A tail cone is secured to the base plate by a single row of 20 screws. There is no explosive in the tail cone.
Four fins are welded to the tail cone and braced by a single set of box-type struts.
Hazardous Components
Picric acid or Type 98 explosive (70 lbs, 31.8 kg).
